There are a number of caves you can visit with amazing stalactites and stalagmites but the nearest to Makrigialos is Vreiko Cave 5kms north of Pefki village and 12 km far from Revans apartments in Makrigialos.
The cave is easily accessible by a narrow road followed by a walk of about 500 metres on a clear-sighted path.

A small gorge at the south coast of East Crete between Pefki village and the touristic resort of Makri Gialos. The best way to start walking the gorge is from Pefki village, which is 7 kms far from Revans Studios, Makri Gialos.
There is a clear-sighted path. The only difficulty you may face is to be informed by the inhabitants of Pefki village for the exact entrance of the gorge.

Among pine trees and built amphitheatrically on the mountain, Pefki is a village with great history, 8km far from Revans apartments, Makrigialos. The caves of Apoloustron and Vreikou, the five thousand year old olive trees and the Minoan ruins indicate that ancient humans made this place their home.
Tradition is important to Pefki. The residents keep it alive and also make sure the visitors get a chance to experience it themselves with a visit to the Folklore museum, which is housed in the Junior school building.

The Kapsa monastery stands on the south coast, at th exit of Kapsa gorge, 7 km east of Revans apartments, Makrygialos.
It is dedicated to St John the Baptist and was built in at least two stages, as the north wing of the church which is built in a cave in the rock, is considerably older than the rest of the monastery complex.

Kapsa or Pervolakia Gorge begins at the village of Kato Pervolakia 15km far from REVANS apts and 28 from Sitia, and ends at the Monastery of Kapsa, close to the coastal village of Goudouras, 8km east of Revans apartments.
The monastery looks as though it has been carved into the hill at the exit of Pervolakia Gorge, gazing out over the Libyan Sea and Koufonissi Island opposite.
